Foster Mother’s Day

“Foster parents are heroes every day. They give of themselves selflessly to the tens of thousands of foster youth in Los Angeles, and what better day to recognize them than Mother’s Day?”

For the last eight years, Foster Care Counts and our dedicated volunteers have hosted foster families for a day of food, games, family, and celebration, and each year is more fun than the last!  This year on Sunday, May 8, our hundreds of volunteers once again hosted a memorable Foster Mother’s Day with more than 2,500 foster parents and children (click here for photos and slideshows of previous years).  We are grateful for all of our volunteers, community supporters, and foster families for ensuring each year is a success!   Foster Mother’s Day wouldn’t be possible without you – thank you!  Here’s a taste of what our Foster Mothers Day included this year:

A Kids’ area filled with carnival games, cookie decorating, arts and crafts, magicians, balloon artists, face painting, and more. Young children enjoyed a special storytelling area hosted by The Book Foundation, which also gave young readers books and backpacks to take home.

Visitors to the spa enjoyed pampering with manicures, hair styling by Paul Mitchell stylists and makeup sessions from Jouer Cosmetics. All guests received a spa gift bag with beauty products donated by partners and sponsors.

Families had family portraits taken, framed and decorated to preserve the memories of this special day.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our corporate partners:

Disney/ABC Family, Wolfgang Puck Catering, Paul Mitchell, Brite Ideas, Tom Bercu Presents, Nestle, Jouer Cosmetics, J A-Ru Toys, Stitch-Fix, Michelle Ingram Designs, AAA Flag & Banner, Innovative Entertainment, Classic Party Rental

And also a huge thank you to our Community Partners:

The Book Foundation, The Book Truck, Jewish Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Mercy Worldwide, BBQ Bretheren, Project Glimmer, Shelter Partnership, StoryCorps, and The RightWay Foundation.

Foster Mother’s Day was featured on every local television station.
