On May 14, 2017, over 3,000 foster youth and their foster parents will be honored at our Foster Mother’s Day celebration. It will be a day filled with delicious food, fun carnival games, arts and crafts, a book corner, and much more!

Hundreds of volunteers gather on Mother’s Day to show appreciation to 2,000 Los Angeles foster parents and children
LOS ANGELES, April 29, 2014 – Foster Care Counts, the non-profit organization founded by Jeanne Pritzker that’s dedicated to raising awareness and serving the needs of foster youth and families in Los Angeles, will host its sixth annual Foster Mother’s Day celebration Sunday, May 11. Together with numerous community-based organizations that support Los Angeles’ foster care system, Foster Care Counts is hosting 2,000 foster youth and their families at a celebration that gives back to foster parents who dedicate their lives to helping children. The annual event, hosted this year at The Willows Community School in Culver City, honors foster families with a day filled with fun, entertainment, food, relaxation and pampering. This year’s corporate partners include Nestlé, Disney/ABC Television Networks, Paul Mitchell®, Jouer Cosmetics and Wolfgang Puck Catering and all activities are made possible by over 300 dedicated volunteers. Over the spring semester, students from USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy, the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and USC’s School of Social Work worked together to use media and journalism to highlight solutions to the complicated problems that result in child maltreatment.
Throughout, students heard from top experts from the fields of journalism, public policy and child welfare research. Now, it is the students of “Media for Social Change’s” turn to do the talking.

See below how over 200 volunteers helped create special memories for foster families from all over Los Angeles!
